Hi, I’m Mary (or ‘Lady Mary English’) and I’m a professional English teacher …

… and Book Club is my way of bringing together literature, language learning, and community into one welcoming space.

I started it because my students were asking for more than just lessons — they wanted a space to read, share, and grow their English together.

Reading in a group is one of the best ways to:

• 📚 Build vocabulary naturally (not from lists, but from real, memorable contexts)
• 🗣️ Practise English in discussion — speaking, listening, and thinking in English in a relaxed setting
• 💡 Develop critical thinking by exploring different perspectives on stories and themes
• 🌍 Exchange ideas with people from around the world
• 🤝 Join a safe, inclusive community where everyone’s voice matters

We meet once a month to discuss a book, share guided notes, and learn from each other. The discussion is lead by me, and it’s structured enough to help you improve, but flexible enough to feel like a real conversation, not a classroom.
